Pulled out this starter to see what was making the slipping / grinding noise. Everything was taken apart and looked at carefully, but nothing sketchy was found. All the the starters teeth were fine, a.k.a no cavities found, onto the solenoid for testing. I'm going in blind any help is good help.

   Last night I started digging into my Shovelhead because I have no loot to get parts right now. I figured that I could get some smaller things out of the way: oil tank, battery box, and the starter that grinds so I can get it rebuilt. I will update as I go.

Today it was 42 degrees outside on Christmas, my birthday too, and I got the bike out for a bit. Ice and snow still in spots, so watch out. Took some shots of St. Paul MN and then headed up to smokeshop to meet some friends.. look at this Opus X and scotch.. HOLY... Best Christmas in MN ever..!!! Then I got home to a hand carved pipe..today was a good day.

O.k. today was one of the best Thanksgivings I've had in years.. thanks to my friend Doom and New Kevin. They showed up at my place today for one of the last rides in MN before winter. Last week there was snow and cold, then today was epic and 57 out.. Happy Thanksgiving!!! right? We rode all over with less cars on the roads and NO COPS.... It was fucking sick.. I think I will try out the 3 1/2 tanks to see what it looks like first because everyone puts Sportster tanks on to thin it up. So My friend Spencer had some bad luck this summer with his Triumph.. oiling issues and froze up a bearing.. What a downer that was. He worked really hard to have a bike to putt around on. By now everyone knows that shop night is Thursdays in St. Paul, even STEVE HAMEL!!!! He seen what Spencer was up to and started lending a helping hand. WOW!

I just got a new bike, a Shovelhead!!!!!!!!!! This is my first Harley. I'm a Triumph guy. This is a whole different world for me right now. I',m tryin' to thin this up a bit, I got 3 1/2 gal tanks to replace the " fat Bobs and some fenders from my buddy Gator. I'm am not sure just what I'm going to end up with in the long run, but this needs to be drastically changed.

So I was up all night working on the New Shovelhead, and trying out new things. Well i get up today at the crack of noon and you can feel the winter tryin' to slip in to your bones.. I hate the winter. My friends say its build time, and I do agree to that. When you see the beginning of the end approaching it's never fun. I need to get out before I can't.

So I have been on the look out for another bike, Shovelhead, and have seen a few now.. The first one was cheap with ugly added to it and a broken motor. The second is a friends that needs a rebuild and is all stock with different year parts.. So I will continue the search as I need time to think about this.. ALL I KNOW IS EVERYONE SAYS NO ABOUT IRONHEADS.. man!!! they do come cheap.... well time is movin' too fast ( WINTER ).. Time to find a project.. I will keep all 18 of you HA!!!! informed..

So I really wasn't going to go to the MPLS. Messaround this year because a great friend of mine was F'd over by his car club. I don't really dig it when friends get F'd by some holier than thou cc guys. So that date comes around and my buddy Ron want's to go and is not taken no for an answer, so we went. Parked on the street so we didn't have to pay, or support, and walked around a bit. Ran into some friends, shot the shit, looked at some great rides, and took some pics. Not as many cars this year...hummmmmmm?

Bike wasn't charging so I figured it needed a new stator/ rotor. The old rotor seemed to still have a good magnetic field still, but out with the Lucas and in with the Sparx. THIS SHOULD BE IT!

I got the motor in the frame so I can do some remounting. I need to move the col and find a spot for the battery to hide. The vertical oil tank has made it very tight looking and tight fitting.

Took forever waiting for shit, but my buddy Lackluster came through on an overseas part for me and I spent the 23 hour day of FRIDAY the 13th hammering this out. Done I hope..

I have been trying to finish up my top end. I got the new pistons in, the big bore cylinder on, and I was trying to fit my head on when I started having problems with the clearance between the cylinder and the head. I couldn't get the gap small enough, trust me I have all the right o-rings and even rechecked everything. TOO much room, just then I noticed that the new head gasket was almost oval on one side. W.T.F? So now I need to get another 750 head gasket so I can continue. Sucks.
On the good side, Here's some blood for ya.
